Adjusting valves 95 Jeep 4.0 straight six?

To adjust the valves on a 1995 Jeep 4.0 straight six engine, you will need the following tools:

- Socket wrench

- Breaker bar

- Torque wrench

- Feeler gauge

- Gasket scraper

1. Start by removing the valve cover. There are eight bolts that hold the valve cover in place.

2. Once the valve cover is removed, you will see the rocker arms and the pushrods.

3. The rocker arms are what open and close the valves, and the pushrods are what transfer the motion from the camshaft to the rocker arms.

4. To adjust the valves, you will need to measure the gap between the rocker arm and the valve stem. The gap should be between 0.006 and 0.008 inches.

5. If the gap is too small, the valve will not open fully and the engine will lose power. If the gap is too large, the valve will not close fully and the engine will run rough.

6. To adjust the gap, you will need to use the socket wrench and the breaker bar to turn the adjustment screw on the rocker arm.

7. Turn the adjustment screw until the gap is correct.

8. Once the gap is correct, tighten the locknut on the adjustment screw.

9. Repeat steps 5-8 for all of the valves in the engine.

10. Once all of the valves are adjusted, replace the valve cover and tighten the bolts.

11. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks from the valve cover. If there are no leaks, you have successfully adjusted the valves on your 1995 Jeep 4.0 straight six engine.
