Step 1: Engage the parking brake, lower the mower deck, and turn the engine off.
Step 2: Remove the cowling. Release the hood latch and lift it, disconnecting any springs or brackets that hold it in place.
Step 3: Remove the mower belt idler. Loosen the idler pulley bolts and slide the belt off the idler pulley.
Step 4: Release the tension on the drive belt. Loosen the bolts holding the drive belt tensioner pulley and push the idler pulley arm backward.
Step 5: Remove the drive belt. Take the drive belt off of the engine pulley and idler pulley.
Step 6: Install the new drive belt. Slip the new belt around the engine pulley and idler pulley.
Step 7: Reattach the tensioner pulley idler arm. Tighten the bolts that hold the drive belt tensioner pulley.
Step 8: Reattach the mower belt idler. Insert the belt onto the idler pulley and tighten the idler pulley bolts.
Step 9: Reinstall the cowling. Reconnect any springs or brackets, then lower the hood and secure the latch.
Step 10: Test the drive belt. Start the engine and check that the drive belt is properly engaged and running smoothly.
Step 11: Adjust the drive belt tension if needed. If the drive belt is too loose or too tight, loosen the tensioner pulley bolts and adjust the tension until the belt is properly tensioned.
