How do you change rear rotors on a 2006 Jeep Liberty?

Tools and Materials:

- Replacement Rotors

- Caliper Bolts (8 or 12 depending on model)

- Caliper Slide Bolts (2)

- Flathead Screwdriver

- Lug Wrench

- Jack

- Jack Stands

Instructions:

1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Chock the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.

3. Jack the rear of the vehicle up until the tire is off the ground.

4. Place jack stands under the frame of the vehicle to support it.

5. Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheel using the lug wrench.

6. Remove the lug nuts and take off the rear wheel.

7. Remove the caliper bolts using a ratchet or wrench.

8. Remove the caliper from the rotor.

9. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the dust cap on the rotor.

10. Remove the rotor retaining screw.

11. Remove the old rotor from the wheel hub.

12. Clean the wheel hub and rotor mounting surface.

13. Install the new rotor onto the wheel hub.

14. Reinstall the rotor retaining screw.

15. Reinstall the caliper.

16. Reinstall the caliper bolts and tighten them.

17. Reinstall the dust cap on the rotor.

18. Put the wheel back on and tighten the lug nuts by hand.

19. Lower the vehicle until it is just touching the ground.

20. Tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern using the lug wrench.

21. Lower the vehicle all the way down and remove the jack stands.

22. Test the brakes by driving the vehicle and applying them. There may be a slight squealing noise for the first few brakes as the pads wear in.
