Instructions:
1. Disconnect Battery:
- To avoid any electrical problems, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Access Fuel Tank:
- Open the fuel door and remove the gas cap.
- Locate the access panel in the trunk or just behind the rear seats, depending on the model.
- Remove the bolts holding the panel in place and lift the panel to access the fuel pump.
3. Remove Fuel Lines:
- Use a fuel line disconnect tool to detach the fuel lines from the fuel pump.
- Be prepared for a small amount of fuel to leak.
4. Remove Fuel Pump Assembly:
- Remove the bolts holding the fuel pump assembly to the tank. These are usually located around the perimeter of the fuel pump assembly.
- Once the bolts are removed, gently lift out the fuel pump assembly.
5. Transfer Over Components:
- Remove the fuel level sender and O-ring from the old pump and transfer them to the new one.
- Take care not to damage these components.
6. Install the New Fuel Pump Assembly:
- Gently lower the new fuel pump assembly into the fuel tank.
- Secure it with the bolts removed earlier.
7. Reconnect Fuel Lines:
- Reconnect the fuel lines to the new pump using the fuel line disconnect tool.
- Ensure they are securely attached.
8. Reinstall Access Panel:
- Reinstall the access panel in the trunk (or behind the rear seats) and secure it with the removed bolts.
9. Reconnect Battery:
- Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
10. Test Fuel System:
- Turn the key to the "On" position (without starting the engine) to prime the fuel system.
- Check for any leaks or unusual noises from the fuel pump area.
- If everything looks and sounds normal, start the engine and check its operation.
