How do you remove front rotor to replace on a 1993 Ford Bronco XLT?

Tools needed:

* Lug wrench

* Jack and jack stands

* Socket wrench set

* Flat-head screwdriver

* Hammer

Instructions:

1.) Start by loosening the lug nuts on the front wheels enough to be removed by hand, but do not remove them completely.

2.) Use a jack and jack stands to safely raise the front of your vehicle off of the ground and secure the vehicle in place with the parking brake.

3.) Remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheels.

4.) Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the dust cap off the center of the rotor, if equipped with dust cap.

5.) Remove the cotter pin from the castle nut that holds the rotor in place, using pliers or a flat-head screwdriver.

6.) Loosen the castle nut but do not remove it completely.

7.) Use a hammer and a drift punch to tap on the back side of the rotor to loosen it from the hub. (Be careful not to damage the threads on the studs or the splines on the hub.)

8.) Slide the rotor off of the hub.

9.) Clean the mating surface of the hub with a wire brush.

10.) Place the new rotor on the hub.

11.) Install the castle nut and tighten it until the holes in the nut line up with the hole in the spindle, then insert a new cotter pin.

12.) Reinstall the wheel and tighten the lug nuts.

13.) Lower the vehicle and remove the jack stands.

NOTE: If the brake pads are worn, now would be a good time to replace them as well.

Tips:

- If the rotor is stuck on the hub, try spraying some penetrating oil around the lug nut area and let it sit for a few minutes before attempting to remove the rotor.

- Be careful not to drop the cotter pin into the rotor or hub.

- Be careful not to over-tighten the lug nuts.
