- Socket set
- Flathead screwdriver
- A pair of gloves
Instructions:
1. Park your vehicle on a level surface.
2. Turn off the engine and apply the parking brake.
3. If present, first pry off the decorative cup holder cover that will be located inside the armrest.
4. Locate the parking brake equalizer near the center of the vehicle, in the middle area under the dashboard.
5. Underneath the rubber boot (which may already be missing) you will see the parking brake equalizer - which resembles a threaded bolt with two nuts on it.
6. Use the 13 mm socket to loosen the locknut on the front side of the equalizer. There will be some tension due to the spring behind it.
7. Now, use a flat-head screwdriver to turn the adjustment nut, which is the part behind the loosened locknut, clockwise to tighten it.
8. Count how many clicks it takes to fully engage before the lever stops (usually less than 10 clicks) and then back it off 2-3 clicks.
9. Hold the cable in the desired position, then retighten the lock nut.
10. Once completed - verify the parking brake's effectiveness.
