1. Disconnect the battery:Before you begin any electrical work, it’s important to disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical shock.
2. Remove the door panel:You will need a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the door panel in place. Be careful not to lose any of the screws.
3.Test the window motor: Connect the tester leads to the positive terminal of the window motor. If the motor operates, the motor is not the cause of the problem. If the motor does not operate, you may need to replace the motor.
4. Inspect the window regulator: The window regulator is the mechanism that moves the window up and down. Inspect the regulator assembly by rotating the window up and down. If you see any broken or damaged parts, replace the regulator.
5. Reinstall the window regulator:If you had to replace the window regulator, simply reverse the steps you took out the regulator to install it.
6. Reconnect the power:Reconnected the window power connector to restore the power to your window motor.
7. Reinstall the door panel:Install the door panel that you removed earlier, being sure to replace all the mounting screws.
8. Test the window:Test the power window to make sure it’s working properly, including the auto up and down feature if equipped.
