1. Disconnect the battery
- Use a wrench to loosen the negative battery cable nut, and remove the cable from the battery terminal.
2. Remove the starter wiring
- Disconnect the solenoid wire and starter relay wire from the starter solenoid.
- Follow the positive battery cable from the battery going down to the starter and remove it with a wrench.
- Unscrew and remove the positive battery cable and solenoid wire from the starter.
3. Remove the starter bolts
- There will be two bolts holding the starter in place, usually with a 13 mm bolt head. Use a ratchet and socket wrench to loosen and remove these bolts.
4. Remove the starter
- Once the bolts are removed, you can remove the starter by gently prying it out of its mounting bracket.
5. Install the new starter
- Position the new starter in place, and insert the two mounting bolts. Hand tighten the bolts before using the ratchet and socket to fully tighten them.
- Connect the positive battery cable and solenoid wire back to the starter solenoid.
- Finally, replace the negative battery cable to the battery terminal and tighten the nut using the wrench.
6. Test the starter
- Connect the battery, turn the key in the ignition, and start the engine to test the new starter.
7. Reinstall the air intake
- Once you have verified that the new starter is working correctly, you can reinstall the air intake.
8. Reconnect the battery
- Finally, reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery terminal.
