- Jack and jack stands
- Lug wrench
- Socket wrench
- 10mm, 13mm, and 15mm sockets
- Flathead screwdriver
- Brake cleaner
- New brake pads
- New brake rotors (if necessary)
- C-clamp
Instructions:
1. Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels, but do not remove them.
3. Use the jack to lift the front of the car until the tires are off the ground.
4. Place the jack stands under the car for safety.
5. Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheels.
6. Use the 15mm socket to remove the two caliper bolts.
7. Remove the caliper and hang it out of the way with a piece of wire or bungee cord.
8. Use the flathead screwdriver to pry the old brake pads out of the caliper.
9. Clean the caliper with brake cleaner.
10. Install the new brake pads into the caliper.
11. Reinstall the caliper and the two caliper bolts.
12. Reinstall the wheels and lug nuts.
13. Lower the car and remove the jack stands.
Tips:
- If your brake rotors are worn, you will need to replace them before installing the new brake pads.
- Be careful not to damage the brake lines when removing the calipers.
- Make sure that the new brake pads are properly seated in the caliper before reinstalling the wheels.
- Test the brakes after you have finished the repair to make sure that they are working properly.
