Park the car on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
Locate the adjustment nut on the parking brake cable, which is usually near the rear wheels.
Turn the adjustment nut clockwise until the parking brake lever can be pulled up three to four clicks before it engages.
Test the parking brake by pulling the lever up firmly. It should hold the car in place without slipping.
Once the parking brake is properly adjusted, tighten the locknut on the adjustment nut to prevent it from moving.
