Tools Needed:
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Flat-head screwdriver (or pry tool)
- New passenger mirror assembly
Step 1: Remove the Interior Door Panel
1. Open the front passenger door and locate the interior door panel.
2. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the door panel in place. These screws are usually located around the edges of the panel, as well as behind the door handle and armrest.
3. Once all the screws are removed, gently pry the door panel away from the door frame using a flat-head screwdriver or pry tool. Start from one corner and work your way around the panel.
4. Disconnect any electrical connectors or cables that may be attached to the back of the door panel, such as the power window switch connector.
Step 2: Locate and Disconnect the Mirror Assembly
1. Once the door panel is removed, you will be able to access the mirror assembly. It is usually located on the exterior side of the door, towards the rear.
2. Disconnect any electrical connectors that are attached to the mirror assembly, such as the power mirror connector and the turn signal light connector (if equipped).
Step 3: Remove the Old Mirror Glass (optional)
1. If you only need to replace the mirror glass and not the entire assembly, you can do so by carefully removing the old mirror glass from the mirror housing.
2. Use a flat-head screwdriver or pry tool to gently pry the mirror glass out of the housing. Be careful not to damage the mirror housing or the surrounding trim.
Step 4: Install the New Mirror Assembly or Glass
1. If replacing the entire assembly, position the new mirror assembly into the mounting brackets on the door.
2. If you removed only the mirror glass, carefully place the new mirror glass into the mirror housing. Make sure it is seated correctly and secured in place.
3. Reconnect any electrical connectors that were disconnected.
Step 5: Reattach the Interior Door Panel
1. Align the door panel with the door frame and carefully press it back into place.
2. Reinstall all the screws that you removed in Step 1 to secure the door panel.
3. Test the functionality of the new passenger mirror and make sure it adjusts and moves properly.
