1. Ensure that the liftgate is fully open. If the liftgate is not fully open, it will not close properly.
2. Locate the release lever. The release lever is located on the inside of the liftgate, on the driver's side.
3. Pull the release lever. This will release the liftgate from the open position.
4. Gently push the liftgate down. The liftgate will close and automatically latch shut.
Here are some additional tips for closing the rear liftgate on a 2008 Toyota Highlander:
* If the liftgate is heavy, you may need to use both hands to close it.
* If liftgate is stuck and will not close, try wiping the latch mechanism with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or debris that may be causing the issue.
* Be careful not to slam the liftgate closed. This could damage the liftgate or the vehicle.
