How do you change transmission filter in 2005 Hyundai santa fe?

Tools and materials needed:

- New transmission filter (check owner's manual for the correct size and type)

- Filter gasket or O-ring (if not included with the filter)

- Transmission fluid (check owner's manual for the correct type)

- Filter drain pan

- Wrench

- Socket set

- Funnel

Instructions:

1. Allow the vehicle's engine to cool completely.

2. Locate the transmission filter on the vehicle. In the 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe, it is usually located on the bottom of the transmission pan.

3. Place the filter drain pan under the transmission filter.

4. Loosen the drain plug on the transmission pan and allow the fluid to drain out.

5. Once the fluid has drained, remove the transmission pan bolts and carefully remove the pan.

6. Remove the old transmission filter from the pan. Be careful not to spill any remaining fluid.

7. Clean the transmission pan and filter gasket mating surfaces.

8. Apply a thin coating of new transmission fluid to the new filter gasket or O-ring.

9. Position the new filter in the pan and carefully reinstall the transmission pan.

10. Reinstall the drain plug and tighten it securely.

11. Add new transmission fluid to the correct level, according to the owner's manual.

12. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the new fluid.

13. Check for leaks under the vehicle.

14. If there are no leaks, the transmission filter change is complete.

Note: If the transmission fluid is very dark or smells burnt, it may be necessary to perform a transmission fluid flush instead. A transmission fluid flush involves removing all of the old fluid from the transmission and replacing it with new fluid.
