- Jack and jack stands
- Socket wrench set
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- Pry bar
- New engine mount
Instructions:
1.) Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2.) Allow the engine to cool down completely.
3.) Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels.
4.) Raise the rear of the vehicle using the jack and jack stands.
5.) Locate the rear engine mount.
6.) Remove the bolts that secure the engine mount to the engine and to the subframe.
7.) Use a pry bar to pry the engine mount off of the engine and the subframe.
8.) Install the new engine mount by reversing the steps listed above.
9.) Lower the vehicle off of the jack stands.
10.) Start the engine and check for proper operation of the engine mount.
Additional Notes:
- Be very careful when removing the old engine mount. There is a lot of weight on it and it can easily fall on you.
- If the engine mount is difficult to remove, you can use a penetrating oil to loosen the bolts.
- Make sure that the new engine mount is installed correctly. An incorrect installation can cause damage to the engine or the subframe.
