How do you replace the oil pan gasket in a 1987 accord?

You will need:

* New oil pan gasket

* Oil pan gasket sealant

* 10mm socket

* 12mm socket

* 14mm socket

* 17mm socket

* Ratchet

* Extension

* Oil drain pan

* Funnel

* New oil (SAE 10W-30)

Instructions:

1. Park your car on a level surface.

2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.

3. Crawl underneath your car and locate the oil pan.

4. Place the oil drain pan under the oil pan drain plug.

5. Use the 17mm socket to loosen the oil pan drain plug and allow the oil to drain into the pan.

6. Once the oil has drained, replace the drain plug.

7. Use the 10mm socket to remove the bolts that hold the oil pan in place.

8. Carefully pry the oil pan off of the engine block.

9. Use a scraper to remove the old oil pan gasket from the oil pan and the engine block.

10. Apply a thin bead of oil pan gasket sealant to the oil pan gasket.

11. Position the new oil pan gasket on the oil pan.

12. Carefully lower the oil pan into place on the engine block.

13. Hand-tighten the bolts that hold the oil pan in place.

14. Use the 10mm socket to tighten the bolts until they are snug.

15. Refill the engine with oil (SAE 10W-30).

16. Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes.

17. Check for leaks.

Tips:

* Make sure that the oil pan gasket is properly seated before tightening the bolts.

* Do not overtighten the bolts that hold the oil pan in place.

* If you are not comfortable performing this repair yourself, you can take your car to a mechanic.
