You will need the following items:
* A Phillips-head screwdriver
* A flat-head screwdriver
* A pair of pliers
Step 2: Prepare the vehicle
Turn off the engine and allow the vehicle to cool down.
Engage the parking brake.
Step 3: Locate the brake light switch
The brake light switch is located on the brake pedal arm, just above the brake pedal.
Step 4: Disconnect the brake light switch
Use the pliers to disconnect the wiring harness from the brake light switch.
Step 5: Remove the brake light switch
Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the brake light switch in place.
Step 6: Inspect the brake light switch
Inspect the brake light switch for damage or wear. If the brake light switch is damaged or worn, replace it with a new one.
Step 7: Reinstall the brake light switch
If you had not replaced the switch, you can reinstall it. Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to reinstall the two screws that hold the brake light switch in place.
Step 8: Reconnect the brake light switch
Use the pliers to reconnect the wiring harness to the brake light switch.
Step 9: Test the brake lights
Press the brake pedal to make sure that the brake lights are working properly.
Step 10: Clear the brake light warning light
Start the engine and allow it to idle for a few minutes.
The brake light warning light should go off after a few minutes.
