- New fuel filter (part number: 17048-S10-000)
- Fuel filter wrench
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Pliers
- Rags
- Safety goggles
Procedure:
1. Park your CR-V on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow it to cool down completely.
2. Locate the fuel filter. The fuel filter on the 2005 Honda CR-V is located underneath the vehicle, near the fuel tank. It is a cylindrical-shaped component with two fuel lines connected to it.
3. Put on your safety goggles. This is important to prevent any accidental fuel splashes from getting in your eyes.
4. Place a rag under the fuel filter to catch any spilled fuel.
5. Use the fuel filter wrench to loosen the fuel lines connected to the fuel filter. Be careful not to overtighten the wrench, as this could damage the fuel lines.
6. Once the fuel lines are loosened, use the flat-head screwdriver to pry the fuel filter out of its housing.
7. Remove the old fuel filter and discard it.
8. Insert the new fuel filter into the housing, making sure that the arrows on the filter are pointing in the direction of fuel flow.
9. Reattach the fuel lines to the fuel filter and tighten them using the fuel filter wrench.
10. Start the engine and check for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the fuel lines until the leak stops.
Additional Tips:
- It is recommended to replace the fuel filter every 30,000 miles or 3 years, whichever comes first.
- If you are experiencing any problems with your vehicle's fuel system, such as poor fuel economy or engine performance, it is a good idea to replace the fuel filter.
- If you are not comfortable performing this procedure yourself, you can have it done by a qualified mechanic.
