Steps:
1. Gather your tools and materials:
- Make sure you have the replacement rearview mirror, a Phillips screwdriver, and a flat-head screwdriver.
2. Prepare the replacement mirror:
- Remove any protective film or packaging from the replacement rearview mirror.
- If the adhesive strip is not already attached to the back of the mirror, peel off the backing and apply it, ensuring it is centered and straight.
3. Locate the mounting bracket:
- Open the driver's side door and sit in the driver's seat. Locate the rearview mirror mounting bracket on the windshield.
4. Detach the old mirror:
- Using the flat-head screwdriver, carefully pry open the plastic caps that cover the screws holding the old rearview mirror in place.
- Remove the screws using the Phillips screwdriver and detach the old rearview mirror from the mounting bracket.
5. (optional) Apply the adhesive promoter:
- Applying the 3M adhesive promoter to the mounting bracket will help create a stronger bond. Make sure the mounting bracket is clean and free of any debris. Apply a thin layer of the promoter using a clean cloth.
6. Install the replacement mirror:
- Position the replacement rearview mirror over the mounting bracket and align the screw holes.
- Secure the mirror in place by inserting and tightening the screws you removed earlier.
7. Replace the plastic caps:
- Firmly press the plastic caps back into place to cover the screws.
- Once the mirror is securely installed and the plastic caps are in place, you can adjust the mirror to the desired angle by gently moving it into position.
