1. Gather the necessary tools and parts.
* Replacement clutch kit (includes clutch disc, pressure plate, and release bearing)
* Flywheel resurfacing kit
* Transmission fluid
* Jack and jack stands
* Wrench set
* Socket set
* Screwdriver
* Pliers
* Safety glasses
2. Prepare the vehicle.
* Park the vehicle on a level surface.
* Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
* Engage the parking brake.
* Lift the front of the vehicle with the jack and place the jack stands under the frame.
* Remove the wheels from the front of the vehicle.
* Remove the front bumper.
* Remove the skid plate.
* Disconnect the battery.
* Remove the starter motor.
* Remove the transmission fluid drain plug and drain the fluid.
3. Remove the transmission.
* Remove the bolts that hold the transmission to the engine.
* Remove the transmission mount bolts.
* Disconnect the transmission from the shifter linkage.
* Pry the transmission away from the engine and lower it to the ground.
4. Resurface the flywheel.
If the flywheel is scored or damaged, it is important to resurface it before installing the new clutch.
* Remove the flywheel from the engine.
* Take the flywheel to a machine shop and have it resurfaced.
5. Install the new clutch kit.
* Apply a thin coat of grease to the splines of the transmission input shaft.
* Install the new clutch disc onto the splines of the transmission input shaft.
* Install the new pressure plate over the clutch disc.
* Install the new release bearing onto the clutch fork.
6. Install the transmission.
* Carefully align the transmission with the engine and install the bolts.
* Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
* Install the transmission mount bolts.
* Connect the transmission to the shifter linkage.
* Fill the transmission with new fluid.
7. Reinstall the starter motor, skid plate, front bumper, and wheels.
8. Test drive the vehicle.
Take the vehicle for a test drive to make sure that the clutch is working properly.
