How do you replace the pitman shaft seals on a 1993 ford ranger with power steering?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Jack and jack stands

- Lug wrench

- Socket set

- Wrench set

- Seal puller

- Seal driver

- New pitman shaft seals

- Power steering fluid

Procedure:

1. Start by raising the front of your truck and securing it on jack stands.

2. Remove the front tires.

3. Locate the pitman shaft. It is the long, metal rod that connects the steering gear to the steering linkage.

4. Use a wrench to loosen the bolts that hold the pitman shaft in place.

5. Use a seal puller to remove the old pitman shaft seals.

6. Clean the pitman shaft and the surrounding area.

7. Apply a thin coat of grease to the new pitman shaft seals.

8. Use a seal driver to install the new pitman shaft seals.

9. Tighten the bolts that hold the pitman shaft in place.

10. Reinstall the front tires.

11. Lower the truck.

12. Fill the power steering fluid reservoir with new fluid.

13. Start the truck and let it run for a few minutes.

14. Check for leaks. If there are no leaks, you have successfully replaced the pitman shaft seals.

Tips:

- When removing the old pitman shaft seals, be careful not to damage the pitman shaft.

- When installing the new pitman shaft seals, be sure to seat them properly.

- If you are unsure about how to perform this procedure, consult a professional mechanic.
