1. Disconnect the battery.
Before beginning any work on the distributor, it is important to disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical shock hazards.
2. Remove the distributor cap.
The distributor cap is held in place by two 5/16 inch bolts. Use a wrench to loosen these bolts and remove the cap.
3. Inspect the distributor cap and rotor.
Once the distributor cap is removed, inspect it for any cracks or damage. Also, inspect the rotor for any wear or damage. If either the cap or rotor is damaged, it should be replaced.
4. Clean the distributor cap and rotor.
Use a lint-free cloth to clean the distributor cap and rotor. Be sure to remove any dirt or debris that may have accumulated.
5. Install the new distributor cap and rotor.
Place the new distributor cap and rotor in position and secure them with the two 5/16 inch bolts. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
6. Connect the battery.
Reconnect the battery and start the engine. Check for any leaks or unusual noises. If everything is working properly, the distributor cap and rotor have been successfully replaced.
