How do you replace rear brakes 1999 dodge 1500?

Tools and Parts

- Socket set

- Wrench set

- Pliers

- Screwdriver

- Replacement brake pads and rotors

- Brake fluid

- Brake cleaner

- Safety glasses

Instructions

1. Chock the wheels of your truck to prevent it from rolling.

2. Jack up the rear of your truck and place jack stands under the frame.

3. Remove the wheels from your truck.

4. Use a socket wrench to remove the caliper bolts.

5. Remove the caliper and hang it out of the way with a zip tie.

6. Use a screwdriver to pry off the old brake pads.

7. Clean the caliper and rotor with brake cleaner.

8. Install the new brake pads into the caliper.

9. Reattach the caliper to the rotor.

10. Torque the caliper bolts to the proper specification.

11. Repeat steps 4-10 for the other side.

12. Top off the brake fluid in the master cylinder.

13. Test the brakes by pumping them several times and driving slowly.
