Preparation
1. Park your vehicle: Safely park the vehicle on a flat surface and turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake.
2. Locate the turn signal bulb: The front turn signal bulbs are located behind the headlight assembly, while the rear ones are within the tail light housing.
3. Gather tools: You'll need a suitable replacement bulb (check your vehicle's owner manual for the correct bulb type), a flathead screwdriver or trim removal tool, and a clean cloth.
Replacing the Front Turn Signal Bulb:
1. Open the hood: Release the hood release lever inside the vehicle and lift the hood to access the engine bay.
2. Locate the headlight assembly: The turn signal bulb is behind the plastic lens of the headlight assembly.
3. Remove the headlight cover: Depending on your model, you may need to remove the entire headlight assembly or just the cover to access the bulb. Consult your vehicle's manual for specific instructions.
4. Remove the bulb holder: Once the cover is removed, locate the turn signal bulb holder. Twist it counterclockwise and pull it out.
5. Replace the bulb: Take out the old bulb by gently pulling it straight out of the holder. Be careful not to touch the new bulb with your fingers as the oils from your skin can reduce its lifespan. Insert the new bulb into the socket, making sure it is securely seated.
6. Reattach the holder: Twist the bulb holder back into place.
7. Reattach the headlight cover or assembly: If you removed the entire headlight assembly, reinstall it now. Secure the cover or assembly as per the instructions in your manual.
Replacing the Rear Turn Signal Bulb
1. Open the trunk: Locate and release the trunk release lever inside the vehicle. Lift the trunk lid.
2. Remove the tail light assembly: Depending on your C240's model, you might need to remove the entire tail light housing or just the lens cover to reach the bulb. Follow the instructions in your owner's manual for specific details.
3. Locate the turn signal bulb holder: Once you have access to the tail light assembly, find the turn signal bulb holder.
4. Remove the bulb holder and bulb: Twist the bulb holder counterclockwise, pull it out, and remove the old bulb.
5. Replace the bulb: Insert the new bulb into the holder, ensuring it's properly seated.
6. Reattach the holder and assembly: Twist the bulb holder back into place and reinstall the tail light assembly or lens cover.
7. Test the turn signals: Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position (without starting the engine) and activate the turn signals to verify that the new bulb is functioning correctly.
Note:
- If your C240 is equipped with LED turn signals, you may not be able to replace the bulbs yourself and may need to visit an auto repair shop.
- Always refer to your vehicle's owner manual for specific instructions and safety guidelines before attempting any repairs or replacements.
