Tools and Materials Needed:
- Replacement Seat Belt Retract Mechanism
- Socket wrench
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Flat head screwdriver
- Pliers
Instructions:
1. Disconnect Battery:
Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any accidental electrical incidents during the repair.
2. Remove Trim Covers:
- Locate and remove the trim covers on the inside of the B-pillar where the seat belt retractor is housed.
3. Unbolt Seat Belt:
- Inside the trim cover, find and remove the bolts holding the seat belt retractor in place.
4. Remove Seat Belt:
- Take out the old and damaged seat belt from its housing.
5. Install Replacement:
- Position the new seat belt retract mechanism into the housing.
- Hand-tighten the bolts that secure the assembly in place.
6. Test Mechanism:
- Reattach the battery terminal.
- Test the functionality of the seat belt by pulling and retracting it several times.
7. Reattach Trim Covers:
- Once the retract mechanism is working properly, reattach the trim covers removed earlier.
