Instructions:
Step 1: Disconnect the Battery
Disconnect the negative terminal of your car's battery. This will help to prevent any electrical accidents while working on the windshield wiper motor.
Step 2: Remove the Cowl Panel
The cowl panel is the plastic cover that runs along the base of the windshield. To remove it, use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off the retaining clips along the front edge of the panel. Once the clips are released, lift the panel up and set it aside.
Step 3: Remove the Wiper Arms
Using a 13mm socket, loosen and remove the nuts holding the wiper arms to the wiper linkage. Once the nuts are removed, pull the wiper arms straight up and off of the splined shafts.
Step 4: Disconnect the Electrical Connectors
Locate the electrical connectors for the wiper motor on the bottom side of the motor. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off the retaining tabs on the connectors and then disconnect them.
Step 5: Remove the Motor Mounting Bolts
Use a 10mm socket to loosen the three mounting bolts holding the wiper motor to the firewall. Once the bolts are removed, lift the motor up and out of the engine bay.
Step 6: Install the New Motor
Place the new motor in the same position as the old one and secure it with the three mounting bolts.
Step 7: Reconnect the Electrical Connectors
Reconnect the electrical connectors to the wiper motor and ensure that the retaining tabs are engaged.
Step 8: Reattach the Wiper Arms
Slide the wiper arms back onto the splined shafts and secure them with the 13mm nuts.
Step 9: Reinstall the Cowl Panel
Align the cowl panel with the mounting holes on the firewall and press down until it snaps into place.
Step 10: Reconnect the Battery
Reconnect the negative terminal of the car's battery and test the windshield wipers to ensure that they are working properly.
