Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare your vehicle for repair. Park your vehicle on a level surface. Apply the wheel chocks to prevent the car from rolling. Set the parking brake. Jack up the vehicle. Engage the emergency brake.
Step 2: Remove the wheel. Use the 17mm socket to loosen and remove lug nuts. Remove the wheel, and set aside.
Step 3: Locate the brake shoes. They are located inside the brake drum.
Step 4: Remove the brake drum. Use the 13mm socket to loosen and remove the brake drum holding screws. Carefully pry the brake drum off the axle.
Step 5: Inspect the brake shoes. Inspect the brake shoes for wear and tear. Make sure they have sufficient friction material and are not excessively worn.
Step 6: Clean the brake shoes. Remove any accumulated dirt and grease from brake shoes. Use a brake cleaner or rubbing alcohol.
Step 7: Apply brake grease. Use a small amount of brake grease to lubricate the brake shoes backing plate.
Step 8: Reinstall brake drum**. Position the brake drum and align it with the axle studs. Install and tighten the brake drum holding screws.
Step 9: Reinstall the wheel**. Position the wheel and align the lug nut holes. Install and tighten the lug nuts. Lower the vehicle.
Step 10: Test the brakes**. Brake several times to ensure brakes are functioning properly.
