Isolated in Alaska How do you replace the clutch a 92 Legacy?

Tools Required

* Floor jack

* Jack stands

* 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set

* 10-mm wrench

* 14-mm wrench

* 17-mm wrench

* 22-mm wrench

* Flat-head screwdriver

* Pry bar

* Clutch alignment tool

* New clutch kit (clutch disk, pressure plate, and release bearing)

* Flywheel resurfacing kit (optional)

Instructions

1. Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine.

2. Jack up your car and support it on jack stands.

3. Remove the transmission drain plug and drain the transmission fluid.

4. Remove the front wheels.

5. Remove the brake calipers and rotors.

6. Remove the axle nuts and tie rods.

7. Remove the drive shafts.

8. Remove the transmission bellhousing bolts.

9. Carefully pry the transmission away from the engine.

10. Inspect the flywheel for wear or damage. If necessary, resurface the flywheel.

11. Install the new clutch disk and pressure plate.

12. Lubricate the release bearing with grease and install it on the transmission input shaft.

13. Reinstall the transmission and tighten the bellhousing bolts.

14. Reinstall the drive shafts, axle nuts, and tie rods.

15. Reinstall the brake calipers and rotors.

16. Reinstall the front wheels.

17. Fill the transmission with new fluid.

18. Lower the car off of the jack stands and test the clutch.

Tips

* If you are unsure about how to perform any of these steps, consult a qualified mechanic.

* It is important to take your time and do this procedure correctly. If you rush through it, you could end up damaging your car.

* If you are replacing the clutch in an AWD car, you will also need to remove the transfer case.

* Be careful not to drop the transmission when you are removing it.
