1. Gather the necessary tools and parts, including:
-A 10 mm wrench or socket
-A flat-head screwdriver
-AReplacement brake light switch
2. Prepare your vehicle by turning off the engine, setting the parking brake, and ensuring that the vehicle is parked in a safe location.
3. Locate the brake light switch. It is located on the brake pedal assembly, near the top. It is usually black or gray in color and has two wires connected to it.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the brake light switch. Use the flat-head screwdriver to gently pry the connectors off of the switch.
5. Unscrew the brake light switch from the brake pedal assembly. Use the 10mm wrench or socket to loosen the nut holding the switch in place.
6. Remove the old brake light switch and discard it.
7. Install the new brake light switch. Screw it into the brake pedal assembly until it is snug.
8. Reconnect the electrical connectors to the brake light switch.
9. Test the brake light switch by pressing the brake pedal. The brake lights should come on when the pedal is pressed.
10. If the brake lights are not working, check the electrical connections to ensure that they are secure. If the connections are secure, the brake light switch may be defective and should be replaced.
