1. Gather the necessary tools and parts.
- Replacement headlight assembly (compatible with your Beetle model and year)
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Flat-head screwdriver
- T25 Torx screwdriver
2. Park your vehicle and turn off the engine.
- Engage the parking brake and ensure that the vehicle is in a safe and level position.
3. Locate the headlight assembly.
- Open the hood of your vehicle.
- The headlight assembly is located at the front of the vehicle, behind the plastic headlight cover.
4. Remove the headlight cover.
- Use a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry open the plastic clips holding the headlight cover in place.
- Be careful not to damage the clips or the headlight cover.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Locate the electrical connector attached to the back of the headlight assembly.
- Press the release tab on the connector and disconnect it by gently pulling it away from the headlight assembly.
6. Remove the mounting bolts.
- Use a T25 Torx screwdriver to remove the three mounting bolts that secure the headlight assembly in place.
7. Remove the old headlight assembly.
- Once the mounting bolts are removed, you can carefully take out the old headlight assembly.
- Be mindful of any wires or connections still attached to the assembly.
8. Install the new headlight assembly.
- Position the new headlight assembly in place, ensuring it aligns correctly with the mounting points.
- Secure the assembly using the three mounting bolts that you removed earlier.
9. Reconnect the electrical connector.
- Reconnect the electrical connector by aligning it with the socket and pressing until it clicks into place.
10. Replace the headlight cover.
- Place the headlight cover back into its original position and gently press down on the clips until they snap shut.
11. Test the new headlight.
- Turn on the headlights and check for proper illumination and alignment.
12. Close the hood.
- Once you've confirmed that the new headlight is working correctly, close the hood of your vehicle.
