How would one check tire pressure?

Step 1: Find your tire pressure specifications.

Every tire has a recommended tire pressure that is listed on the sidewall of the tire. This number is expressed in pounds per square inch (psi).

Step 2: Get a tire pressure gauge.

You can buy a tire pressure gauge at any auto parts store. Make sure the gauge is accurate by checking it against a known pressure source, such as a gas station air pump.

Step 3: Remove the tire valve stem cap.

The valve stem is the small, metal protrusion that sticks out from the center of the tire. Unscrew the valve stem cap to expose the valve stem.

Step 4: Press the tire pressure gauge onto the valve stem.

Make sure that the gauge is pressed firmly against the valve stem to create a seal.

Step 5: Read the tire pressure.

The tire pressure will be displayed on the gauge.

Step 6: Compare the tire pressure to the recommended pressure.

If the tire pressure is too high or too low, you will need to adjust it.

Step 7: Adjust the tire pressure.

If the tire pressure is too high, you will need to release air from the tire. If the tire pressure is too low, you will need to add air to the tire.

Step 8: Replace the valve stem cap.

Screw the valve stem cap back on to protect the valve stem from dirt and debris.
