1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the shroud around the fan clutch.
3. Use a wrench to hold the pulley and use the correct metric wrench( varies depending on the year and model) to loosen the fan clutch bolt or nut (reverse-threaded in some models)
4. Remove the bolt and washer from the fan clutch
5. Attach a puller to the fan clutch and carefully pull the fan from the water pump shaft.
To get to the timing chain:
1. Remove the distributor cap and rotor (if applicable).
2. Remove the valve cover(s).
3. Use the timing marks to align the crankshaft and camshaft.
4. Remove the timing chain cover to access the timing chain.
