Step 1: Remove the Dashboard
1. Using a pry bar, start prying the dashboard from the windshield with the dash cover still in place. Pry between the dash and the A-pillar post working towards the center while carefully pulling up to prevent damage.
2. Next, remove the dash cover from the dashboard. Pry along the edges of the cover with a pry bar and a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry it up and work around the curves.
3. With the dash cover removed, continue prying until the dashboard is fully detached from the car, then lift the dashboard out and move to a workbench or similar large surface.
Step 2: Apply Adhesive
4. Apply a layer of epoxy adhesive to the surface where the dashboard is broken.
5. Cover the epoxy adhesive with a fiberglass mat cut to the shape of the broken area.
6. Apply another layer of epoxy adhesive over the fiberglass mat.
7. Allow the epoxy adhesive to cure for at least 24 hours according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Step 3: Install New Dash Cover
8. With the cured adhesive and fiberglass mat in place, insert the new dash cover over the dash.
9. Press down firmly to ensure the cover is snapped into place.
Step 4: Reinstall the Dashboard
10. Lift the dashboard into position and gently push until the dashboard is pushed back into place.
11. With the dashboard back in position, press down firmly to snap it into place.
Step 5: Test the Dashboard
12. Push on the repaired area to make sure that it is solid and properly repaired.
13. Take the vehicle for a test drive to ensure that the dashboard is securely attached and there are no rattles or vibrations.
Note: This repair method is considered a temporary fix, and it is still recommended that the entire dash be replaced to fully restore its integrity and functionality.
