1. Gather tools and materials.
- New transmission filter (Hyundai part number 46321-3B000)
- Filter gasket
- ATF fluid
- Oil pan
- Funnel
- Wrench
- Rags
2. Prepare the vehicle.
- Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
- Allow the engine to cool down completely.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Raise the vehicle with a jack or lift (make sure to use jack stands for safety).
3. Locate the transmission filter.
- The transmission filter is located on the passenger side of the transmission, near the bottom.
- It is a cylindrical-shaped object with a black plastic cap.
4. Remove the oil pan bolts.
- Use a wrench to loosen the bolts holding the oil pan in place.
- Allow the oil to drain into the oil pan.
5. Remove the old transmission filter.
- Once the oil has drained, remove the old transmission filter by unscrewing the filter cap.
- Be careful not to spill any ATF fluid.
6. Clean the filter mating surface.
- Use a rag to clean the filter mating surface on the transmission.
- Make sure that all dirt and debris are removed.
7. Install the new filter gasket.
- Place the new filter gasket on the filter cap and secure it by hand-tightening.
8. Screw the filter cap back onto the transmission.
- Hand-tighten the filter cap until it is snug against the mating surface.
- Use a wrench to tighten the filter cap further.
9. Refill the transmission with ATF fluid.
- Use the funnel to add new ATF fluid to the transmission.
- The recommended fluid type is Hyundai Genuine ATF SP-III.
- Fill the transmission until the fluid level reaches the "Full" mark on the dipstick.
10. Check for leaks.
- Lower the vehicle and start the engine.
- Allow the engine to run for a few minutes and then check for leaks.
- If there are no leaks, the transmission filter replacement is complete.
