1. Prepare the materials:
- Pliers
- Thin, flexible putty knife or plastic card
- Rubbing alcohol
- Soft cloth
2. Loosen the glue:
- Start by gently heating the adhesive around the wide-angle mirror using a hairdryer or a heat gun. This will help soften the glue and make it easier to remove.
3. Insert a putty knife:
- While the glue is still warm, insert the thin, flexible putty knife or plastic card between the wide-angle mirror and the driver's side mirror. Be careful not to damage either mirror during this process.
4. Pry gently:
- Use the putty knife or plastic card to pry the edges of the wide-angle mirror away from the driver's side mirror. Work your way around the entire mirror, prying gently and gradually until it starts to come loose.
5. Remove the mirror:
- Continue prying until the wide-angle mirror comes off completely. Be patient and avoid using excessive force, as you don't want to damage the driver's side mirror.
6. Clean the surface:
- Once the wide-angle mirror is removed, use a soft cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol to clean the surface of the driver's side mirror where the adhesive was. This will remove any remaining glue residue.
7. Allow to dry:
- Let the cleaned area dry completely before installing a new wide-angle mirror or applying any other accessories.
Note: If there is any stubborn adhesive residue left, you can try using a commercially available adhesive remover or Goo Gone to safely remove it. Always follow the instructions on the product label for safe and proper use.
