Materials Needed:
- New transmission fluid (check owner's manual for specific type and amount)
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Wrench or ratchet with the appropriate socket
Procedure:
1. Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
2. Locate the transmission drain plug. It is usually found on the bottom of the transmission pan.
3. Place the oil drain pan under the drain plug. Use a wrench or ratchet with the appropriate socket to loosen the drain plug and allow the old transmission fluid to drain into the pan.
4. Once the old fluid has drained completely, replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.
5. Locate the transmission fluid fill plug. It is usually found on the side of the transmission near the top.
6. Use a funnel to add the recommended amount of new transmission fluid. Check your car's owner's manual for the specific amount required.
7. Replace the transmission fluid fill plug and tighten it securely.
8. Start the car and allow it to run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new transmission fluid through the system.
Note: Some BMW 745Li models may have an automatic transmission fluid change system that will perform this task for you. If your vehicle is equipped with this system, you will not need to follow the steps above. Please consult your owner's manual for more information.
