1. Gather the necessary tools and parts:
* New passenger side mirror (check your owner's manual for the recommended replacement)
* Phillips head screwdriver
* Flat-head screwdriver
* Wrench
* New Mirror Trim (If desired)(This requires some additional steps listed at the end of this list.)
2. Remove the interior door panel:
* Start by removing the screws that secure the door panel. Some of the screws may be concealed behind plastic covers. Remove these covers to access the screws.
* Once all the screws are removed, gently pry the door panel away from the door frame using the flat-head screwdriver.
* Disconnect any electrical connectors that are attached to the door panel, such as the power window switches or door lock controls.
* Set the door panel aside in a safe place to avoid any damage.
3. Remove the old side mirror:
* Locate the three 10mm bolts that hold the side mirror in place.
* Use the wrench to loosen and remove the bolts.
* Once the bolts are removed, carefully pull the side mirror out of the door.
4. Install the new side mirror:
* Align the new mirror with the holes on the door.
* Insert the bolts and hand-tighten them.
* Use the wrench to securely tighten the bolts.
* Reconnect any electrical connectors that were disconnected.
5. Reattach the interior door panel:
* Align the door panel with the door frame and press it back into place.
* Replace the screws that you removed earlier to secure the door panel.
6. Trim the Door: (Only required if you purchased New Mirror Trim)
* You will need to remove the glass mirror. It is attached with plastic push-pin clips. Use a flat screwdriver to help pop them out. (Take you time and don't force anything.)
* Carefully line up the new trim piece with the original holes and re-install the 10mm bolts you previously removed.
* Slide the mirror glass back in from the front and pop in the push-pin clips. (Some light force may be required. Use a soft rubber mallet to avoid cracking the mirror.)
* Test the mirror to ensure it is properly secured and adjusted.
7. Test the mirror:
* Check that the mirror is firmly attached and properly adjusted.
* Open and close the door to ensure the mirror does not interfere with the door frame.
* Test the mirror's adjustability and angle viewing angle to ensure it provides the desired visibility.
*Note: If the new side mirror does not come with a pre-installed glass, you may need to transfer the glass from the old mirror to the new one. To do this, carefully remove the glass from the old mirror by applying heat to the adhesive holding the glass. Then, carefully attach the glass to the new mirror using a compatible adhesive.
