- Aftermarket tachometer
- Wire stripper/crimper
- Electrical tape
- Drill
- 1/8-inch drill bit
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Flat head screwdriver
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Locate the ignition coil on the engine. It is usually located near the distributor.
3. Find the tachometer signal wire on the ignition coil. This wire is usually labeled with a “TACH” or “RPM” marking.
4. Connect the tachometer signal wire from the aftermarket tachometer to the tachometer signal wire on the ignition coil.
5. Connect the ground wire from the aftermarket tachometer to a metal surface on the car.
6. Connect the power wire from the aftermarket tachometer to a 12-volt power source. This can be done by connecting it to the fuse box or the cigarette lighter.
7. Drill a 1/8-inch hole in the dashboard where you want to mount the tachometer.
8. Insert the tachometer into the hole and secure it with the screws provided.
9. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
10. Test the tachometer by starting the engine and making sure that the tachometer is reading correctly.
