2. Pull in the clutch lever. This disengages the engine from the transmission.
3. Push down on the shift lever with your left foot. This will shift the motorcycle into first gear.
4. Release the clutch lever slowly. The motorcycle will start to move forward.
5. Continue to shift gears as needed. Shift into higher gears as the motorcycle speeds up and shift into lower gears as the motorcycle slows down.
6. Always shift gears smoothly. Shifting too quickly can damage the transmission.
Here are some additional tips for shifting gears on a motorcycle:
- Practice shifting gears in a parking lot or other safe area until you are comfortable with the process.
- When shifting gears, always keep your eyes on the road.
- Do not shift gears while turning.
- Do not shift gears while braking.
- Listen to the engine as you shift gears. The engine speed should increase as you shift into higher gears and decrease as you shift into lower gears.
