The crank position sensor (CPS) on the C280 Mercedes is located on the front of the engine, near the bottom. It is usually mounted on the engine block, near the crankshaft pulley.
To access and replace the CPS, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable to avoid any electrical accidents while working.
2. Locate the CPS. It is typically a small, cylindrical sensor with a wiring connector attached to it.
3. Remove the mounting bolts or screws holding the CPS in place. Depending on your vehicle's model and year, there might be one or more bolts/screws.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the CPS by carefully pressing the release tab and pulling the connector straight out.
5. Remove the old CPS from the engine block.
6. Clean the mounting surface where the old CPS was installed to remove any dirt or debris.
7. Install the new CPS by inserting it into the mounting hole and aligning the mounting holes.
8. Secure the new CPS with the bolts or screws removed earlier.
9. Reconnect the electrical connector to the new CPS.
10. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Additional Information:
Some C280 models might have a different CPS location. If you cannot find the CPS in the aforementioned location, consult the vehicle's repair manual or seek assistance from a qualified mechanic.
