Can you insure a car in different state that is registered state?

Generally, no. You cannot insure a car in a different state than it's registered in. Insurance companies need to comply with the regulations of the state where the vehicle is registered and legally operating. Insuring a car in a different state would likely violate those regulations and render the insurance policy invalid.

There are very limited exceptions, and those exceptions usually involve temporary situations and specific circumstances, such as:

* Temporary relocation: You might be able to get temporary insurance coverage in another state while temporarily residing there, but you'll need to inform your insurance company and may need to change your insurance policy once your registration is changed. The duration of this temporary coverage is usually quite short.

* Military deployment: Service members often have specific provisions that allow them to maintain insurance coverage in their home state even while stationed elsewhere.

In almost all cases, you must register your car in the state where you live and then obtain insurance in that same state. Attempting to circumvent this is risky and could leave you uninsured if you're involved in an accident.
