2020 Mahindra Thar spied testing once again

2020 Mahindra Thar spied testing once again

Mahindra & Mahindra is working on the next-generation Thar and it is expected to hit the market by 2020. Ahead of the official, the new Thar has been spotted on test once again. The new edition is expected to get a new ladder-on-frame chassis that is believed to be longer and wider than the current model.

The new Thar is one of the most sought after options for the off-roading enthusiasts in the country. The new edition is full of new interiors and the SUV is built on a new body-on-ladder platform to provide better off-road experience.

New Thar complies with the new crash test norms and will also get mandatory safety features.

The brand new Mahindra Thar is expected to debut at the Auto Expo 2020 and will be launched sometime later then. Presently, the Thar lacks safety features like ABS, EBD and even airbags. But this time it might also come with a 2.0-litre petrol engine. The engine is currently under development and might debut post-April 2020 when the BS6 norms kick in.

Targeted at the off-roading enthusiasts and people wanting to make a unique style statement, the new Thar will not be going to leave any stone unturned to amaze their lovers.

The Signature Edition also gets ABS as standard, in a bid to comply with new safety norms that mandate the feature. The bumper assembly too gets a new silver paint finish on the metallic sections, while there are new alloy wheels as well borrowed from the previous generation Mahindra Scorpio.

Over the years, the Thar has played a significant role in shaping the lifestyle vehicle segment in India. Its powerful engine delivers both power and fuel economy. The cabin can seat six, while two rear bench seats can be folded to create a massive luggage area.
