Who all can you put on your military insurance?

Active Duty members may purchase coverage for:

* Spouses

* Divorced or separated spouses when a court-ordered or written agreement places financial responsibility for medical support of the former spouse on the active-duty member

* Unmarried dependent children

* Unmarried children of the Active Duty member’s spouse or former spouse (e.g. step-children) who are in the legal custody of the Active-Duty member

* Unmarried sons or daughters adopted by the Active-Duty member prior to becoming 23 years of age

* Unmarried children placed for adoption with the Active Duty member, with the legal placement authorized by an appropriate state agency prior to the child’s 21st birthday

* Unmarried children who have been placed in legal custody of the active-duty member through judicial proceedings prior to the child’s 21st birthday

* Grandchildren who:

- Live in the regular household and for at least 6 consecutive months of every year of the active duty member

- Depend on the active-duty member for over ½ of their support

- Have no natural or adoptive parent.

- Niece, nephews, or siblings who are adopted children in the active-duty member’s legal custody

- Niece, nephews, or siblings if they are orphans who live with the active-duty member and dependent on the active duty member for more than ½ of their support, and whose parents are deceased or disabled.
