How old do you have to be sit in the front seat of a car Ontario Canada?

According to the [Highway Traffic Act of Ontario, Canada](https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/941109), a child must be at least 9 years old to sit in the front seat of a car in the province of Ontario. Failure to comply with this law may result in a fine or other penalties.

Exemption

There are however, a few exceptions to this rule. A child under the age of 9 may sit in the front seat if they are:

- Accompanied by an adult who is at least 16 years old

- Sitting in a child restraint system that meets the requirements of the law

- Sitting in a vehicle that does not have a rear seat
