*Towing Basics - $1,350
Sacramento County Office of Education (Sacramento) offers a variety of classes for tow truck drivers preparing them to take the examination to become a licensed Tow Truck Operator in the State of California. The curriculum includes 24 hours of training:
- 8 hours of classroom lectures on the towing and recovery industry
- 16 hours of hands-on field instruction in vehicle recovery
To be employed as a tow truck driver in the State of California, an individual must possess a Class A or B Driver’s License and undergo a background check and drug screening through the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
