Definition: The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has detected a large leak in the Evaporative Emission Control (EVAP) system.
Symptoms:
- Check Engine Light
- Rough idle
- Stalling
- Increased emissions
- Reduced fuel economy
Causes:
- Faulty EVAP canister.
- Faulty EVAP purge control solenoid.
- Disconnect in the EVAP system.
- Faulty fuel tank cap.
- Faulty pressure sensor switch or wiring.
Diagnosis:
- Visual Inspection of EVAP system lines and components.
- Fuel Tank Cap test.
- Pressure/smoke testing.
- PCM Scan.
Repairs:
- Replace faulty EVAP canister.
- Replace faulty EVAP purge control solenoid.
- Repair any disconnects or cracks in the EVAP lines.
