In this diagram, the following components are labeled:
Battery
Starter relay
Voltage regulator
Alternator
Ground
Circuit breaker
The charging system on a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy works by converting mechanical energy from the engine into electrical energy that is stored in the battery. When the engine is running, the alternator generates an alternating current (AC) that is converted into a direct current (DC) by the voltage regulator. The DC current is then sent to the battery, where it is stored for later use.
The starter relay is responsible for connecting the battery to the starter when the ignition key is turned on. The circuit breaker protects the charging system from damage in the event of a short circuit.
