When you turn the air on in car it blows fuse why?

A car's air conditioning system blowing a fuse usually points to a problem with a short circuit somewhere in the system. Here are some of the most common causes:

* Worn or damaged wiring: Over time, wiring can become frayed, brittle, or corroded, especially in areas exposed to heat and moisture. This can create a short circuit when the air conditioning is turned on, leading to a blown fuse.

* Faulty blower motor: The blower motor itself can short out, drawing excessive current and blowing the fuse. This is a common culprit.

* Problems with the resistor pack (blower motor resistor): This component controls the fan speed. If it fails, it can cause a short circuit.

* Short in the AC compressor clutch circuit: While less common, a short in the wiring to the compressor clutch can also cause the fuse to blow.

* Short in the AC controls: A short within the switch panel or other controls for the air conditioning system can draw excessive current.

* Water intrusion: Water getting into the system, especially near the blower motor, can cause corrosion and shorts.

To fix the problem, you'll likely need to have a qualified mechanic diagnose the specific issue. Simply replacing the fuse repeatedly will not solve the underlying problem and could damage other components. The mechanic will need to trace the wiring and test components to locate the short circuit.
