Finding Cylinder #1: On a small-block Chevy V8 (the most common engine in a 1993 K1500), cylinder #1 is typically located at the front of the engine, on the passenger side. Look for markings on the engine block or consult your owner's manual to be absolutely sure.
Once you've identified #1 cylinder, the wire from that cylinder connects to the rotor terminal that's pointing towards it when the engine is at its #1 cylinder firing position (typically top dead center, TDC). The distributor cap is then marked with the firing order (typically 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2, but check your specific engine's firing order). Follow the firing order sequence around the cap.
