You can't put an automatic Chrysler PT Cruiser (or any other modern automatic car) in neutral without the key in the ignition, except in extremely rare and specific circumstances involving a severely malfunctioning transmission or ignition system. Attempting to force it into neutral without the key is unsafe and could damage the vehicle.
The interlock system is designed for safety – preventing the car from being moved without the key. Any method that bypasses this system is potentially risky.
