To access it, you'll probably need to:
1. Get under the dash: You'll need to get comfortable under the dashboard, possibly on your back.
2. Locate the brake pedal: Find the brake pedal assembly.
3. Look for the switch: The switch will be connected by wires. It might be held in place by a clip or a bolt.
4. Be careful: Avoid accidentally disconnecting other things.
Before you start:
* Check the fuses: Always check the relevant fuses in the fuse box first. A blown fuse is a much simpler and cheaper fix. Your owner's manual will show you the fuse box location and diagrams.
* Check the bulbs: Make sure the brake light bulbs themselves aren't burned out. This is the most common cause of brake light failure.
If you're not comfortable working on your car yourself, it's best to take it to a mechanic. Improperly working on your brakes could be dangerous.
